make IT what YOU want

There are many advantages to owning a home, ranging from a solid investment to the place where you watch your family grow; however, my personal favorite is the freedom to make it your own. It doesn’t have to be perfect when you find it. In fact, sometimes it’s better if it’s not.

Don’t fret if the home that best fits you in the moment is missing something you wish it had or didn’t have. Live in the space for a while, then decide what you want to add, modify, or remove. Maybe you want a sunroom, but you don’t need a three-car garage. Covert the space! If it doesn’t have your dream garden, research plants that thrive in your area and start planting. Is that wall in the way, or maybe it’s missing, change it.

That’s the beauty of ownership. It’s yours! Play with colors, change the fixtures and hardware, or refinish the floors to discover their hidden beauty. Add a pool to float in or fill it in to create a putting green. Plant your favorite tree and grow with it.

Our Unique Location

What is the first thing you notice in the aerial photo below? Maybe the ocean? What about the many rivers and inlets between the ocean and the city?

Not everyone realizes that the Savannah area is surrounded by water, which means there are many waterfront homes to choose from. Some are located on the beach shores of Tybee Island. Many are located on an intricate waterway system of rivers with beautiful golden marsh between. Hence the name for the islands to our South, the Golden Isles of St. Simons and Jekyll Island.

You can live on the waterfront and be in downtown Savannah in as little as 10 minutes. So, if you prefer a water view and/or need a home where you can dock your watercraft for easy use, ask about our many scenic and centrally located island homes.

The New Savannah

Modern blending beautifully with history

Savannah is growing quickly. A number of new venues and districts have quickly modernized the city and led to additional entertainment options. However, the city has done an excellent job of protecting our historic structures and preserving the enchanting atmosphere of the area. We are a wonderful example of a peaceful coexistence between the new and old.

Our history is evident throughout the city, so this blog focuses on a few of the newer attractions.

Plant Riverside District: Home – Plant Riverside Savannah’s Entertainment District

This brave and large undertaking has made a significant impact on our riverfront. It includes multiple luxury hotels, restaurants, rooftop bars, shopping, and live entertainment. Recently they struck deals with Live Nation and Comedy Central to bring world class music and entertainment to the area.

Eastern Wharf: Inspired by our past. A vision for our future. | Eastern Wharf (easternwharfsavannah.com)

Flanking the opposite end of the riverwalk is the Eastern Wharf. It combines the luxurious Thompson Hotel with upscale apartments, condominiums, and Townhouses. Located on the river’s edge, with a large open park in the center, they are welcoming bands, food trucks, and even a mobile farmers market for patrons to enjoy.

Enmarket Arena: Home – Enmarket Arena

A brand-new arena bringing big name entertainment to the city. The arena is already open and hosting a variety of musicians and shows, but it will also be the home of the new hockey team, the Savannah Ghost Pirates. Additionally, this entire area is being transformed to include shops, restaurants, and even canal access to the arena from downtown Savannah. So, grab a drink, jump on a gondola, and enjoy the show!

Starland District: Home – Starland District

This is a revived area of town South of Forsyth Park with its own vibe. Anchored by Starland Yard, a unique concept that combines a permanent bar, Pizzaria, and fun outdoor seating options, plus constantly changing food trucks that are brought into the complex. In addition to Starland Yard, you’ll find Two Tides brewery and unique mix of shops, restaurants, and bakeries. It’s a frequent stomping ground by us locals.

KAT-5 Studios: KAT-5 Studios (kat5studios.com)

Still under construction, this is being billed as “America’s First Purpose-Built Sustainable Film Studio Complex”. You kind of need to check out their site to fully understand what this means, but it will be another draw for the already established Georgia film industry.

More is on the way…

Meet Holly

I’ve always been an animal lover, especially dogs. That’s why I actively volunteer at Coastal Pet Rescue here in Savannah. Everything from shifts for feeding and walking the dogs, to coordinating and leading events. I also found my best pal there. She’s ~8 years old, and I adopted her in September 2021. Her favorite place (other than her bed) is a cool beach, but our fenced yard and shaded parks are a close second. She even comes to the office with me!

Why Savannah?

That is the question I heard over-and-over when I decided to move here. Most of the people asking had never been to Savannah, or at least not in recent years. They thought of it as a quaint southern town that you visit for a weekend to walk the squares, enjoy the food, and of course, visit a few clubs. Although we do have beautiful parks and squares, a huge selection of restaurants, and yes, lively nightlife, that’s less than 10% of what Savannah has to offer.

They were also unaware of our unique location. They had no idea how easy it is to visit large cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte, or Jacksonville by car, or how many flights our award-winning airport offers. Even the mountains of Asheville are only a little over 4 hours by car. Of course, best of all, you can be at the beach in minutes, or choose from a large variety of islands and towns within a 1-2 hour drive.

My favorite part of the question though is how they answer the question themselves once they visit. Without fail, the answer is “now I see why you moved here”, “its stunning”, and/or “we may join you here”.
